One product in six countries: how are labels and leaflets laid out without being rejected?

Non-compliant label language is the most common reason for rejection. The workable layout puts the mandatory items on the carton and the languages in a leaflet: leaflets from 5,000 pieces, 55–70g paper, one block per language, type no smaller than the destination minimum (1.2mm in EU practice), batch and date left blank for on-line coding.

1What must sit on the principal panel

Name, net content, RP/importer name and address, batch, expiry or PAO, INCI list in descending order, warnings. Order and language differ: most ASEAN markets want local language plus English; Thailand requires Thai, Indonesia requires Bahasa.

2How the leaflet folds

70g offset paper up to three folds; beyond four folds use 55–60g thin paper or it will not fit the carton. Six or more languages call for an accordion fold, one block per language.

3Where it gets checked

The first printed piece is checked item by item against the destination rules (IQC-08); before shipment the label is re-checked against the notified file (OQC-01).

Follow-up questions

Q:Can a translated sticker be used?
A:Some markets allow an importer sticker in the local language as long as it does not cover mandatory items; it must match the notified artwork.
Q:Chinese names or INCI on the ingredient list?
A:Standard Chinese names for China, INCI for export; the on-site inventory maps one to the other.
