Ingredients explained

Aqua
Solvent, main base; microbial control is critical
Paraffin
Paraffin wax for occlusion/viscosity control; inert/safe, may affect breathability
Glycerine
Workhorse humectant at 3-10%; tacky at high levels, pair with occlusives, low irritancy.
Brassica Campestris Seed Oil
Emollient oil rich in Omega-9 and antioxidants, 1–5%; prone to oxidation, pair with VE
Sodium Polyacrylate
Superabsorbent resin, <1%; gels with electrolytes, ionic strength control required.
Pentylene Glycol
Polyol humectant at 1-3%; low irritancy, suitable for sensitive skin
Cetearyl Alcohol
Fatty alcohol emulsifier at 1-5%; non-ionic surfactant
1,2-Hexanediol
Polyol solvent and preservative booster at 1–5%; light feel, can replace some traditional preservatives
Caprylyl Glycol
Polyol conditioner and preservative booster at 0.5–3%; emollient feel, often paired with 1,2-hexanediol
Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer
Crosspolymer for thickening/film; needs neutralization to pH 7-8 to hydrate, check ion strength.
Sodium Citrate
Sodium citrate for buffering and chelating; adjust pH, careful with strong acid reactions.
Xylitol
Polyol humectant, sweet taste; water-soluble, high hygroscopy, excess draws moisture.
Cetearyl Glucoside
Gentle non-ionic sugar-based emulsifier for low-irritation formulas; often co-blended
Mannitol
Polyol humectant with binding/skin conditioning properties; high levels may cause osmotic irritation
Tocopherol
Natural antioxidant (vitamin E) at 0.1–1%; prone to oxidation, store protected from light
Rhamnose
Polysaccharide humectant for hydration; used at low levels, mild flavor aid.
Xylitylglucoside
Polyol humectant with high water absorption and fresh feel; often co-used with propylene glycol for enhanced hydration.
Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil
Sunflower seed oil for emollient/occlusive; high linoleic acid, low comedogenicity.
Anhydroxylitol
Anhydrous xylitol, potent humectant; high hygroscopicity may cause stickiness at high levels.
Niacinamide
Niacinamide at 2–5%; improves texture, controls oil, brightens; high levels may cause sensitivity
Glucose
Low-MW humectant and buffer; high hygroscopicity requires careful preservation and humidity control.
Fructooligosaccharides
Prebiotic polysaccharide for hydration/skin conditioning; high levels may feel sticky
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
Light occlusive and solvent at 1–10%; non-greasy feel, suitable for oily and combination skin
Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract
Brown algae extract for hydration and film-forming; high loads may affect clarity.
