Ingredients explained

Water
Primary solvent and base; requires preservative system to prevent microbial growth
Sodium Laureth Sulfate
Common anionic surfactant, strong foam but drying; check cationic compatibility, high eye irritation
Ppg-2 Hydroxyethyl Cocamide
Non-ionic surfactant enhancing cleansing and emulsification; coconut-derived, gentle
Lauryl Betaine
Mild amphoteric surfactant; foaming and stabilizing. Eye irritation may exceed anionics, use low levels for sensitive skin.
Glycol Distearate
Glycol distearate for thickening and emulsification; non-ionic, improves viscosity
Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate
Mild anionic surfactant, boosts foam/cleaning; low irritancy, common in wash formulations
Glycerin
Workhorse humectant at 3–10%; tacky at high levels, pair with occlusives
Fragrance
Fragrance; concentration must control allergen risk, label specific components
Polyquaternium-7
Not decoded yet
Isostearamidopropyl Morpholine Lactate
Not decoded yet
Phytosterols
Plant sterol mix for skin barrier repair and soothing; plant-derived, no reported sensitization.
Tocopherol
Natural antioxidant (vitamin E) at 0.1–1%; prone to oxidation, store protected from light
Tocotrienols
Vitamin E isomer; potent antioxidant for lipid protection and UV synergy, light and heat sensitive.
Squalene
Squalene, lightweight emollient, easily absorbed; animal sources restricted, plant sources preferred
Oryza Sativa Bran Wax
Rice bran wax for conditioning and film formation; hydrophobic, low comedogenicity.
Polyquaternium-10
Cationic polymer for fabric or hair smoothness; generally low irritation but may conflict with other cationic actives
Methyl Gluceth-20
Not decoded yet
Sodium Benzotriazolyl Butylphenol Sulfonate
UV-B absorber, often as photostabilizer; 0.1–0.5% active; water-soluble, requires stable pairing
Buteth-3
Not decoded yet
Tributyl Citrate
Tributyl citrate plasticizer/solvent, low toxicity; hygroscopic, long-term protection from moisture/light
Sodium Chloride
Salt for gel viscosity control; used as precipitant in soaps
Citric Acid
Buffer and chelator at 0.1–2%; adjusts pH, may irritate sensitive skin at low pH
Tetrasodium Edta
Chelator removing metal ions to enhance antioxidant and preservative efficacy; very low usage, typically 0.05-0.1%, no direct skincare function.
Methylchloroisothiazolinone
Preservative (MCI); highly sensitizing, use only in rinse-off, avoid leave-on products.
Methylisothiazolinone
Strong preservative; high allergy risk, EU restricted for leave-on products, high formulation risk
