How do you tell whether a cosmetics contract manufacturer is credible?

Three checks separate the field: whether the control points can be stated one by one, whether an ingredient can be traced to a lot, and whether the regulatory dossier can be assembled per destination. Concrete counts to compare against: 36 control points, 149 ingredient dossiers, 8,231 packaging options and 57,058 searchable inventory entries.

1Ask about testing: what each checkpoint tests and on what basis

A factory that answers with named methods differs from one that says it has 'full QC'.

2Ask about traceability: how far back a finished batch goes

A credible answer is the supplier lot and the source region. Claims of an exact plot and harvest date need a plot ledger to back them.

3Ask about regulations: can they list the destination checklist on the spot

EU needs a CPSR and a responsible person; the US needs MoCRA facility registration and product listing; each ASEAN market needs its own account.

Follow-up questions

Q:Are certificates enough?
A:Certificates say whether a factory is qualified; records say how it actually works. Ask for both.
Q:How do you check a formulation library is real?
A:Pick three at random and ask for format, pH range, target markets and tests already run.
