- Ethoxydiglycol; high-perf solv/humectant; low irrit, EU limit 20%, watch total PEG load
- Alcohol Denat
- Denatured ethanol; solvent, penetration enhancer, and quick-dry agent; high % may compromise barrier in dry skin.
- Salicylic Acid
- Lipophilic BHA at 0.5-2%; exfoliant/sebum control, irritation/sensitization at high conc., photosensitivity (SPF needed), avoid sensitive/pregnant.
- Butyl Avocadate
- Butyrate ester from avocado oil, light non-greasy emollient with low comedogenicity; better oxidative stability than pure avocado oil.
- Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate
- Mild amino-acid surfactant, poor solubility, pairs with fatty alcohols, fine foam.
- Menthol
- Cooling and soothing agent at 0.5–2%; high levels may cause sensitivity or irritation, use caution around eyes and mucous membranes
- Benzalkonium Chloride
- Cationic preservative/disinfectant. Restricted in EU to 0.1% (0.6% ocular). Irritant; incompatible with anionic surfactants.
- Sodium Hydroxide
- Strong base neutralizer for pH adjustment; handle with extreme care
- Sodium Levulinate
- Sodium levulinate, natural-derived humectant; generally mild, often used in blends.
- Potassium Sorbate
- Preservative effective below pH 6; combinable with sodium benzoate
