- Carthamus Tinctorius Seed Oil
- Natural seed oil rich in linoleic acid; moisturizing, prone to oxidation, needs antioxidants
- Petrolatum
- Mineral oil occlusive and antistatic; requires full refining history to ensure absence of potential carcinogens.
- Glycerin
- Workhorse humectant at 3–10%; tacky at high levels, pair with occlusives
- Sodium Laureth Sulfate
- Common anionic surfactant, strong foam but drying; check cationic compatibility, high eye irritation
- Lauryl Betaine
- Mild amphoteric surfactant; foaming and stabilizing. Eye irritation may exceed anionics, use low levels for sensitive skin.
- Xanthan Gum
- Natural thickener at 0.1–1%; provides gel texture, pH-stable, requires full hydration
- Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride
- Cationic guar derivative for antistatic, film-forming, viscosity control; common in hair/skin conditioning
- Tocopherol
- Natural antioxidant (vitamin E) at 0.1–1%; prone to oxidation, store protected from light
