Glycerin
Workhorse humectant at 3–10%; tacky at high levels, pair with occlusives
Panthenol
Panthenol (vitamin B5) at 1–5%; moisturizing and reparative, supports barrier recovery
Isopropyl Palmitate
Isopropyl palmitate for dry touch; prone to oxidation, needs antioxidants, low viscosity
Squalane
Emollient from plants or synthetic; light texture
Tapioca Starch
Tapioca starch; powder thickener/oil absorbent; inert, mild comed risk at high conc
Glyceryl Stearate Citrate
Emulsifying stabilizer and emollient at 2–5%; provides creamy texture, check compatibility with anionic surfactants
Behenyl Alcohol
Fat alcohol emulsifier/thickener at 1-3%; low comedogenic risk, check solubility in strong acid/base systems, add antioxidants.
Cetyl Alcohol
