Common in dry/damaged hair; superior penetration vs mineral oils, low comedogenic risk, poor oxidative stability.

Sodium Hyaluronate

Potent humectant at 0.1–2%; different MW for penetration depth, high levels may draw moisture

Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate

Vitamin C ester antioxidant; more stable than ascorbic acid but still light-sensitive.

Sucrose Stearate

Succrose ester emulsifier/emolient with cleansing properties; HLB determines emulsion type.

Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil

Jojoba oil rich in unsaturated fats; good penetration, non-comedogenic, prone to oxidation requiring antioxidants

Plukenetia Volubilis Seed Oil

Inca Inchi oil; Omega-9 rich emollient. Use <5%; pair with antioxidants to prevent oxidation.

Rosa Canina Fruit Extract

Rich in Vit C and polyphenols, astringent; water-soluble, unstable, add at low temp.

Hamamelis Virginiana Bark/Leaf/Twig Extract

Astringent and soothing botanical extract for sensitive or pore care, used at low levels.

Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline

Lipid peptide for skin conditioning; mimics ceramide function for barrier repair, prone to crystallization

Cetearyl Glucoside

Gentle non-ionic sugar-based emulsifier for low-irritation formulas; often co-blended

Phenoxyethanol

Broad-spectrum preservative at ≤1%; may irritate sensitive eye areas, often paired with ethylhexylglycerin

Xanthan Gum

Natural thickener at 0.1–1%; provides gel texture, pH-stable, requires full hydration

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice

Natural humectant and soother with high water activity; requires preservative system, generally well-tolerated

Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Oil
