- Cyclopentasiloxane
- Cyclopentasiloxane for emollient/solvent; volatile silicone, smooth feel, check VOC regulations.
- Cyclotetrasiloxane
- Volatile silicone providing slip; D4 is restricted in EU rinse-off products and requires labeling for leave-on use.
- Glycerin
- Workhorse humectant at 3–10%; tacky at high levels, pair with occlusives
- Propanediol
- Polyol solvent at 1–5%; light feel, aids solubilization, propylene glycol alternative

- Oil-soluble antioxidant for oil stability; mild skin irritant.
- Disodium Edta
- Chelating agent at 0.05–0.5%; sequesters metal ions for stability, boosts preservative efficacy
- Cetyl Alcohol
- Cetyl alcohol for emulsification/thickening; high concentration >10% may irritate.
- Hydroxyethylcellulose
- Water-soluble cellulose ether for thickening and suspension stabilization; sensitive to ions, electrolytes reduce viscosity, use at pH 7-8.
