Volatile cyclic silicone evaporating without residue; ensure compliance with EU limits on cyclic polydimethylsiloxanes, use octamer

Stearic Acid

Fatty acid emulsifier, white waxy solid; adds slip feel

Chlorphenesin

Phenolic antimicrobial; strict EU limits apply, potential allergen, careful dosing required for leave-on products.

Carbomer

Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin

Cyclodextrin to complex fragrances/actives; boosts solubility and stability.

Tocopheryl Acetate

Vitamin E derivative antioxidant at 0.1–1%; more stable than tocopherol, store protected from light

Butylene Glycol

Polyol humectant and solvent at 1–5%; aids solubilization, light feel

Ascorbic Acid

Vitamin C, potent antioxidant requiring acidic environment for stability; oxidizes and discolors easily, needs light and air protection, concentration 1-10%, pure L-ascorbic acid is more irritating.

Dipropylene Glycol

Solvent for essential oils; better humectancy than PEG

Squalane

Emollient from plants or synthetic; light texture

Retinol

Highly active and unstable, needs robust antioxidant encapsulation; 0.1-1.0%, pregnancy contraindicated

Asiaticoside

Plant glycoside, healing and antioxidant; poor solubility, use low levels with solubilizers.

Madecassic Acid

Madecassoside hydrolysis product for barrier repair and anti-inflammatory action; mild, low typical usage

Asiatic Acid

Pro-healing active, 0.1–1%; stability affected by light, store protected from light.

Sodium Hyaluronate

Potent humectant at 0.1–2%; different MW for penetration depth, high levels may draw moisture

Melaleuca Alternifolia Leaf Extract

Tea tree leaf extract for skin conditioning and perfuming; allergen risk requires dilution.

Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract

Sea buckthorn fruit extract for skin conditioning; stable at low levels, check phototoxicity at high doses.
