- Cyclopentasiloxane for emollient/solvent; volatile silicone, smooth feel, check VOC regulations.
- Dimethicone
- Silicone occlusive at 1–5%; provides smooth feel, non-penetrating, suitable for sensitive skin
- Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer
- Crosslinked silicone thickener at 0.5-2%; silky/matte feel, non-comedogenic, partial oil phase incompatibility, use co-solvent/pre-emulsification.
- Isononyl Isononanoate
- Light, low-viscosity ester emollient; excellent spreadability, good for gels and light lotions
- Silica
- Silica powder at 1–10%; absorbs oil, thickens, provides matte finish, for oil-control products
- Dimethicone Crosspolymer
- Crosslinked silicone polymer providing silkiness and viscosity control; for hair and skin; inert but hard to biodegrade.
- Isododecane
- Synthetic hydrocarbon solvent providing dry, silky skin feel; high volatility, non-comedogenic, common in sunscreens and foundations, usage 5-30%.
- Phenoxyethanol
- Broad-spectrum preservative at ≤1%; may irritate sensitive eye areas, often paired with ethylhexylglycerin
- Polymethyl Methacrylate
- PMMA for thickening, suspension, and film; micro-size powder carrier, very low irritation
- Titanium Dioxide
- Physical UV filter and colorant up to 25%; nano form requires attention
