- Light emollient solvent at 5–15%; mineral oil-free, refreshing feel, low sensitization.
- C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate
- C12-15 alkyl benzoate; emollient, emulsifier, and antistatic; aids stability and smoothness, moderate low comedogenicity.
- Cocoglycerides
- Coco-glycerides act as emulsifiers and skin conditioning agents; gentle, often used in soap-free formulations.
- Cyclomethicone
- Volatile silicone for light feel; contains D4 restricted by EU, must be <0.1% after 2026
- Lauryl Glucoside
- Mild nonionic surfactant for cleansing; 1-5%, suitable for sensitive skin
- Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate
- Plant-derived emulsifier, mild feel; for O/W systems, combine with co-emulsifiers
- Glycerin
- Workhorse humectant at 3–10%; tacky at high levels, pair with occlusives
- Phenoxyethanol
- Broad-spectrum preservative at ≤1%; may irritate sensitive eye areas, often paired with ethylhexylglycerin
