- VA/VP copolymer film former; provides hair fixing; avoid direct contact with eyes or mucous membranes.
- Aqua
- Solvent, main base; microbial control is critical
- Bentonite
- Natural clay for oil absorption in masks or thickening; no allergenicity, ensure high purity batches
- Glycerin
- Workhorse humectant at 3–10%; tacky at high levels, pair with occlusives
- 1,2-Hexanediol
- Polyol solvent and preservative booster at 1–5%; light feel, can replace some traditional preservatives
- Polyvinyl Alcohol
- Film/viscosity agent for masks/cleansers; water-soluble, forms flexible film
- Charcoal powder
- Charcoal; adsorbs impurities/oil for cleansers, provides opacity, can be drying or matte.
- Glycolic Acid
