Cyclopentasiloxane for emollient/solvent; volatile silicone, smooth feel, check VOC regulations.

Propylene Glycol

Polyol humectant at 3-10%; hygroscopic, slight tackiness, mild irritation at high conc., verify preservative efficacy, no allergen.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride

Light occlusive and solvent at 1–10%; non-greasy feel, suitable for oily and combination skin

Diisostearyl Malate

Diisostearyl malate; lightweight emollient and emulsifier; non-greasy feel, biodegradable, used in premium systems.

Talc

Inorganic mineral powder for texture and oil absorption; must be asbestos-free; fineness affects skin feel and safety, avoid inhalation.

Isononyl Isononanoate

Light, low-viscosity ester emollient; excellent spreadability, good for gels and light lotions

Alcohol

Ethanol for solubility/drying at 5-15%; high conc. is drying/irritating, avoid lip/eye, low residue, balance with humectants.

Glycerin

Workhorse humectant at 3–10%; tacky at high levels, pair with occlusives

Dipentaerythrityl Tri-Polyhydroxystearate

Waxy emollient for feel enhancement; increases viscosity at high levels.

Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate

Emulsifier at 1–5%; mild type, suitable for sensitive skin formulas

Stearic Acid

Fatty acid emulsifier, white waxy solid; adds slip feel

Silica

Silica powder at 1–10%; absorbs oil, thickens, provides matte finish, for oil-control products

Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate

Plant-derived emulsifier, mild feel; for O/W systems, combine with co-emulsifiers

Mild emulsifier for low-foam systems; suitable for sensitive skin.
