- Ethoxydiglycol; high-perf solv/humectant; low irrit, EU limit 20%, watch total PEG load
- Glycerin
- Workhorse humectant at 3–10%; tacky at high levels, pair with occlusives
- Sodium PCA
- Sodium PCA, NMF component, 1-10% humectant; salty/tacky at high levels.
- Panthenol
- Panthenol (vitamin B5) at 1–5%; moisturizing and reparative, supports barrier recovery

- Skin soother at 0.5-2%; promotes cell regeneration

- Triterpenoid glycoside with soothing, repairing, and antioxidant effects; typical concentration 0.1-1%, suitable for sensitive or compromised skin, good stability.

- Plant glycoside, healing and antioxidant; poor solubility, use low levels with solubilizers.
- Sodium Hyaluronate
- Potent humectant at 0.1–2%; different MW for penetration depth, high levels may draw moisture
- Xanthan Gum
- Natural thickener at 0.1–1%; provides gel texture, pH-stable, requires full hydration
- Lecithin
- Phospholipid emulsifier at 1-5%; biocompatible, moisturizing/antioxidant, prone to oxidation (add TBHQ), mild for sensitive skin.
- Sclerotium Gum
- Non-ionic gum for gels; neutral pH, requires dissolution via heating or fine milling
- Pullulan
- Microbial polysaccharide for film forming and thickening; water-soluble film former used in capsules or moisturizing films.

- Chelating agent at 0.05–0.5%; sequesters metal ions for stability, boosts preservative efficacy
