Ingredients explained

Deionized Water
Deionized water as primary solvent; inactive but carries other ingredients, purity needed to prevent metal ion interference.
Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid for exfoliation; requires buffering at concentrations >10%, avoid combination with other acids.
Hydroquinone
Melanin inhibitor restricted in EU cosmetics; primarily industrial or intermediate use; strict compliance required
Alpha-Arbutin
Whitening antioxidant, inhibits tyrosinase; use 1-2%, avoid strong acids
Kojic Acid
Tyrosinase inhibitor for whitening; EU limit 1% in water, unstable and requires light protection, potential irritation.
Niacinamide
Niacinamide at 2–5%; improves texture, controls oil, brightens; high levels may cause sensitivity
Ascorbic Acid
Vitamin C, potent antioxidant requiring acidic environment for stability; oxidizes and discolors easily, needs light and air protection, concentration 1-10%, pure L-ascorbic acid is more irritating.
Lactic Acid
AHA pH adjuster at 0.5-5%; exfoliation/humectancy, mild at low conc., irritating at high, avoid conflict with alkaline preservatives.
Tocopherol
Natural antioxidant (vitamin E) at 0.1–1%; prone to oxidation, store protected from light
Disodium EDTA
Chelating agent at 0.05–0.5%; sequesters metal ions for stability, boosts preservative efficacy
