- Malic Acid
- AHA for pH buffering; mild at low conc, risk at high, control pH & total acidity
- Mandelic Acid
- Alpha-hydroxy acid for exfoliation and antibacterial effects; mild penetration, less photosensitivity than other AHAs
- Tartaric Acid
- Small-molecule organic acid used as buffer and antioxidant; highly irritating at high levels, caution for sensitive skin
- Kojic Acid
- Tyrosinase inhibitor for whitening; EU limit 1% in water, unstable and requires light protection, potential irritation.
- Hydroxyethylcellulose
- Water-soluble cellulose ether for thickening and suspension stabilization; sensitive to ions, electrolytes reduce viscosity, use at pH 7-8.
- Ammonium Hydroxide
- Strong alkaline pH adjuster; use in low concentrations to neutralize acids, avoid direct mixing with strong acids.
