Ingredients explained
- Sodium Palmate
- Soap-based surfactant with good cleansing; high pH may irritate dry or sensitive skin
- Sodium Palm Kernelate
- Gentle sodium fatty acid surfactant; mild cleansing with fine lather; common in cleansers and body washes
- Aqua/Water/Eau
- Water as solvent/base; main ingredient, microbial control needed, paired with preservatives.
- Butyrospermum Parkii Oil
- Classic occlusive emollient for dry/winter formulas; generally low comedogenicity.
- Glycerin
- Workhorse humectant at 3–10%; tacky at high levels, pair with occlusives
- Sodium Chloride
- Salt for gel viscosity control; used as precipitant in soaps
- Zinc Sulfate
- Antimicrobial and astringent, restricted in oral care; <1% topical, metallic taste, avoid mixing with amino acids
- Mannitol
- Polyol humectant with binding/skin conditioning properties; high levels may cause osmotic irritation
- Polysorbate 20
- Non-ionic emulsifier and cleansing surfactant; contains PEG, control microbial load.
- Xylitol
- Polyol humectant, sweet taste; water-soluble, high hygroscopy, excess draws moisture.
- Rhamnose
- Polysaccharide humectant for hydration; used at low levels, mild flavor aid.
- Tetrasodium EDTA
- Chelator removing metal ions to enhance antioxidant and preservative efficacy; very low usage, typically 0.05-0.1%, no direct skincare function.
- Tetrasodium Etidronate
- Chelating agent, stabilizer, restricted use, concentration dependent.
- Niacinamide
- Niacinamide at 2–5%; improves texture, controls oil, brightens; high levels may cause sensitivity
- Fructooligosaccharides
- Prebiotic polysaccharide for hydration/skin conditioning; high levels may feel sticky
