Ingredients explained
- Aqua
- Solvent, main base; microbial control is critical
- Phenyl Trimethicone
- Aromatic modified silicone for high gloss and occlusion; inert, non-volatile, may leave surface residue
- PEG-12 Dimethicone
- Water-soluble silicone; provides slip and gloss, easily emulsified, common in hair and skin care.
- Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer
- Crosslinked silicone thickener at 0.5-2%; silky/matte feel, non-comedogenic, partial oil phase incompatibility, use co-solvent/pre-emulsification.
- PEG-20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate
- Non-ionic surfactant for emulsification; contains PEG, check compatibility.
- Butylene Glycol
- Polyol humectant and solvent at 1–5%; aids solubilization, light feel
- Squalene
- Squalene, lightweight emollient, easily absorbed; animal sources restricted, plant sources preferred
- Isononyl Isononanoate
- Light, low-viscosity ester emollient; excellent spreadability, good for gels and light lotions
- Lauryl Dimethicone
- Lauryl dimethicone, smooth silicone at 0.5–3%; gives non-greasy gloss and feel, non-comedogenic.
- VP/Hexadecene Copolymer
- Film-former for hair fixation; often needs co-solvents or cationic system.
- Ceteth-10
- Not decoded yet
- Laureth-4
- Not decoded yet
- Biosaccharide Gum-1
- Biosaccharide Gum-1, fermented colloid for hydration and soothing, low comedogenic.
- Hyaluronic Acid
- High-water-binding humectant at 0.1-1%; high-MW for surface film, low-MW for dermal potential, check cationic compatibility.
- Alumina Magnesium Metasilicate
- Not decoded yet
- Carbomer
- Gelling thickener requiring neutralization; watch out for ion compatibility
- Triethanolamine
- Triethanolamine for buffering; restricted, limit concentration to avoid high pH and irritation
- Propylparaben
- Medium-chain preservative; restricted use, pH-sensitive efficacy.
- Methylparaben
- Preservative, narrow spectrum; often combined, check allergen risk and regulatory limits.
- Aroma
- Blended fragrance; may contain EU-listed allergens, check for sensitizers in sensitive individuals.
- Ci 77891
- Titanium dioxide inorganic pigment and UV filter; assess inhalation risk for nano-forms and EU restrictions
