- Natural emulsifier pairing with glucosides; skin-like feel, biodegradable, prone to oxidation requiring light protection
- Sorbitan Olivate
- O/W emulsifier, HLB ~15, requires ionic co-surfactant, potential sensitizer.
- Butyrospermum Parkii
- African oil/fat/wax; clarify form (oil, butter, or powder) as function depends on it.
- Cetyl Alcohol
- Cetyl alcohol for emulsification/thickening; high concentration >10% may irritate.
- Dimethicone
- Silicone occlusive at 1–5%; provides smooth feel, non-penetrating, suitable for sensitive skin

- Jojoba oil rich in unsaturated fats; good penetration, non-comedogenic, prone to oxidation requiring antioxidants
- Ceramide NP
- Ceramide N3 for barrier repair; lipophilic, needs oil phase or emulsion, avoid high standalone use.
- Ceramide Eop
- Ceramide EOP, repairs skin barrier lipids; often blended with cholesterol and fatty acids.

- Lipophilic Vitamin C derivative, antioxidant and brightening; more stable than VC, oil-soluble, must pair with oil phase

- Licorice root; anti-inflammatory/whitening, contains glycyrrhizin, caution for pollen-allergic individuals.

- Plant extract, soothing properties; contains natural allergens, high levels may irritate.
- Phenoxyethanol
- Broad-spectrum preservative at ≤1%; may irritate sensitive eye areas, often paired with ethylhexylglycerin

- Workhorse humectant at 3–10%; tacky at high levels, pair with occlusives
